Management of High Milk Production Kentucky Dairy Herds

A survey was conducted to see charcterize management practices of high production herds in Kentucky.  Twenty-four dairy producers were interviewed regarding their management practices.  This article looks at the some of the results from the interviews.

 

Di Liang Wins National Mastitis Research Foundation Award

Di Liang, graduate student at the University of Kentucky wins a national mastitis research foundation award.

 

USDA's Animal Disease Traceability Begins March 11, 2013

The final regulations regarding the traceability of U.S. livestock moving interstate were established on December 20, 2012.  The system will go into place this month.  This article looks at how the system will affect cattle operations, including dairy cattle.

 

State 4-H Dairy Cow Camp Set April 27th

Kentucky 4-H Dairy Cow Camp will be held April 27th in Adair County.  This is a great opportunity to learn more about dairy judging and giving oral reasons.  Registration is due March 27th and is $15 per person.  There will be novice (ages 9-11 with no experience), Juniors (ages 9-13), Seniors (ages 14-18) age divisions.
